About Granddaddy Purple
Granddaddy Purple (GDP), also known as Grand Daddy Purp, is a famous indica strain developed in 2003 by Ken Estes in the San Francisco Bay Area. The strain was created by crossing the well-known Big Bud x Purple Urkle strains. The goal was to combine the best characteristics of both parent plants, resulting in a plant with striking deep purple flowers and powerful effects.
Granddaddy Purple's genetics are diverse and include a mix of Afghan, Thai and Skunk strains that contribute to its distinctive look and effect. The strain quickly gained popularity in California and beyond thanks to its unique appearance with bright purple tones and frosty white trichomes, as well as its sweet, grape-like aroma and taste.
